I was just curious what everyone's Top 5 favorite all around TV. Western shows are. These are mine: 1. Gunsmoke 2. The Virginian 3. Bonanza 4. Rawhide 5. Wagon Train
(I had a difficult time between Wagon Train and High Chapparal)

Gunsmoke is really the only western I ever watched.
I did like the Maverick movie. I liked Big Valley in syndication but never watched much of it. High Chaparral, I watched occasionally. Wild Wild West was good but I never watched many of the episodes.

1. Gunsmoke 2. Lonesome Dove. I think it was a mini series. Someone lent us the tapes. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones starred. I'm still in love with Robert Duvall's character, Gus! I also enjoyed Big Valley when I was a kid. I don't think I've seen any other westerns.

I was born in the fifties when westerns took hold of TV, so I was quite a fan. Gunsmoke was far and away tops, but I also liked
***Have Gun Will Travel ***Maverick ***Rawhide because of Clint ***The Virginian
***Big Valley because of Barbara Stanwyck as the matriarch and cute "Heath" the illegitamate son of her dead husband
***High Chapparal because of the marriage of convenience between the old Lief Ericson character and the beautiful young woman who grew to love one another
I don't watch any of those series today in reruns, but I'm faithfully following "Deadwood" on HBO and was pretty happy with that cowboy movie that came out recently with Annette Benning and Robert Duvall. And...because I was born in the 50's, I can't remember the name of it or the big star.

I'd love to see reruns of some of the more obscure western series, like"Tombstone Territory","Lawman",and "Cimmeron City".I loved "Yancy Derringer"if you can call it a western. I still have a vivid memory of an episode of one series...might have been"Johnny Ringo".A young gunslinger comes to town to challenge Ringo to a shootout.Ringo puts him off until the young gun forces him into it.They square of and draw. The camera pans up the young gun past his half drawn gun to his face which sports a bullet hole in his forhead!Shocking stuff for the day, especially for a 6-7 year old.Obviously,I remember it to this day.
